Before Sandy, we never had a storm that knocked out our power for more than 24 hours. As a result, less than 5% of residents in our neighborhood had generators. We had one about this size, and because of that, we were able to stay in our home all 9 days the power was out. We ran everything (not all at once though) we needed with this sized generator. What I found out because of the storm, is that this size generator is perfect, unless you need to run an air conditioner. (although its enough to run a small window unit if necessary). Because of how difficult it was to obtain fuel, and our lack of spare fuel containers, we were forced to run our similar unit for however long 4 gallons of gas could run it in a day. We often got 12-13 hours out of it, which was enough to keep our food from spoiling and enough so the house didn't get so cold.

With these heatwaves we're getting out west and the strain of running AC non-stop.. this might be a good idea for me to get.

Yeah it's brutal here in the summer ..but then we don't have 90% humidity to go with it.

oh yeah, it was almost 110 yesterday and today should be hotter. I have 2 outdoor temps sensors and they are crazy hot right now.

OUTDOOR_ATTIC = 106.025
OUTDOOR_GARAGE = 118.063 (This might be in direct sunlight at the moment)

I'm tempted, but those "Raven" generators sold by the same merchant were a real crapshoot. Mine was broken and I didn't want to try to fix it myself (spark plug boot was in 37 pieces, fuel petcock sheared off).

Not sure I would take a chance again, but this is a good price.

what makes this an "RV generator"?

I had the 4400 version of this, and the China motor in it was crap, ran 2x then bent the pushrod, and cracked the rocker, it still isnt running. If I get it running again. i will do some research on the different fuel adapters, like NG or LP, they are pretty cheap and I bet it will last much longer not using our crappy regular gas with ethanol in it

Maybe no wheels, im guessing.

Good price but after that last deal, I wouldn't trust it arriving in one piece.

Buyer beware with this EBay seller. Factory Authorize outlet (FAO) had a bunch of us on SlickDeals steaming after the Raven Gen4000 Generator debacle. Slickdeal members shared their stories on here of damaged generators upon arrival and the headache some of returning the product. Luckily my Raven generator only had a broken fuel valve nipple that I purchased and replaced myself. FAO wanted the whole generator returned for a replacement which was a bigger headache because who know what the next generator's condition was going to be. Anyone thinking of purchasing the Duronax generator, please take your time and check everything.
