I wanted to provide some context for this regularly-occuring deal, and, in particular, all of the “pro and con” chatter that happens each time.
First, some people are satisfied with the product and the price point. That’s fine. However, I will also say this: it is a fact that the garment bag is not heavy duty! I once bought one and it is cheap/thin plastic. Well, you say, isn’t that a subjective statement? Actually, no. I used my micrometer and the “heavy-duty plastic” is 3.75 mil thick. To put that in perspective, the clear plastic bag that it was sealed inside of was 3 mil thick. The poly plastic bag that it was shipped in was also right at 3 mil thick.
I happen to own a heavy-duty garment travel bag that is very similar to this (meaning, it’s not luggage with various zippered compartments, it’s just designed to transport a few hanging clothes). It’s in my closet right now, and the brand is WallyBags. I used the micrometer on that one: 14 mil thick. Granted, they cost closer to $40 :-) However, google for them or check Amazon and you’ll see what I mean.
Am I just bashing this deal? No, if you are going to buy one you have a better chance of being satisfied with it if you know it’s not heavy duty. Actually, when I bought mine I was able to eventually get a refund from iTechDeals due to it being described as “heavy duty” and the micrometer measurements I took (they don’t offer refunds unless product is defective).
Anyways, just trying to give some context on the thread.
