when will people learn that the solar panel on these are a gimmick and quite far from being useful at all unless you are trapped in the wilderness for a week

I've had no issues with mine. Bought it almost a year ago. I leave it on my dash board and it charges my devices perfectly. (iPhone 6s Plus, iPad Air 2, and OnePlus One) will buy another for my girlfriend!!!

The heat from the sun while charging probably wouldn't be too good for the battery and the size of the panels would likely take a week to fully charge the battery....

As a power bank, it may serve you well. However, I don't think I would leave this lying to charge in direct sunlight in the open while you go off to listen to music. It may get stolen.

I assume Coachella offers lockers with outlets with a fee of course.

You can put your phone on airplane mode and turn off WiFi to prolong battery life. You won't get very good service anyways with so many people in one area.

Think about buying quality radios to communicate rather than phones if instant communication is necessary for you at such festivals.

it takes more power to make a solar cell then the solar cell makes in 20 year. solar panels in general are gimmicks. yes there are a few uses where solar panels are beneficial. space or remote desert homes. that said if this is meant to be outside it should be water resistant which would be very useful.

From the product description:
Note: Solar charger(5V200mA,12000mAh capacity) is only for emergency use, not a primary charging resource, so it takes about 45 hours to fully charge under strong sun; It is recommended to charge by wall charger, which only takes a few hours to fully charge

I hope people realize the solar charger is purely a gimmick. Even the highest rated portable panels have 21.5-23.5% efficiency testing. The 200mA solar rating is "peak sun" or perfect weather, at noon, on the equator. There’s an energy loss at every stage of conversion, and going from solar charger over USB to a battery pack and later from the pack to a device you’re charging provides large losses. You will be lucky to see 0.1W from that panel.

Anyone who ever says it works, is clearly paid by the company to leave bogus reviews.

This is a misnomer. Most solar panels recoup the energy used to make within 3 years and last 20. Hardly a gimmick. After paying $2000 a year I up solar and last year my utility paid me. Still going strong with 0 issues in year 2.

I don't know about this one in particular, or about battery packs versus just solar panels, but I have *many* friends who rely on handheld solar charging devices to recharge portable electronics when doing ethnographic field work in remote locations. So small solar panels work for some people. And they usually buy cheap ones, because they have to pay out of pocket unless they have a really good grant.

Good way to get a cheap Chinese battery to explode.
