Been watching this for a while and this is the lowest I've seen for the 256gb version.
This allows you to put a flash hard drive into your MACBOOK AIR 13"; which is great b/c the newer macbooks don't allow swapping the harddrive/RAM (soldering etc).

Previous Price: $154.99 via camelcamelcamel
Current Price: $124.99 @ AMAZON here [amazon.com]
Current Price: $124.99 @ B&HPHOTO here [bhphotovideo.com]
Free shipping at both sites; taxes YMMV

Summary:
1.This is the Transcend Jetdrive 130, 256gb flash expansion card
2. The 130 model (TS256GJDL130) is for the MACBOOK AIR 13" (late 2010 - early 2015)
3. It fits into the MBA13 like the attached pictures show (flush)
4. Use it like a hard drive.... it's pretty self-explanatory
5. Info from manufacturer's site (model #s/compatible mac models) [transcend-info.com]
Stats:
Capacity 256GB
Flash Type MLC
Maximum Performance Read 95MB/s, Write 60MB/s
Durability 10,000 insertion/removal cycles
Warranty Limited Lifetime Warranty

I've used the 128gb version; it's reliable and the speeds are great. If you guys have questions about the 128gb model, post and I'll try to answer

Is this significantly better than micro to "jet"drive adapters? Any clue?

my sandisk 200GB microSD + flush mount adapter is significantly faster than the Transcend JetDrive 130 was. it also doesn't sap battery life like the JetDrive did. read the reviews to see what i am talking about

Personally, I'd go for the actual SSD upgrade for $45 more.

No, no. You may be misunderstanding the point of this.

Buying the SSD, as I'm sure you know, replaces your drive.

The Jet Drive ADDS space. So you're getting an additional 256 on top of what you have as your main SSD.

I understand the point of this perfectly.

I have only a 128GB SSD, so it would be more advantageous to upgrade that first. That's all I'm saying.
