Lots of unhappy reviews. They say tons of ads trying to get you to buy in-app purchases.

Anyone have any experience with this app?

Thanks

That's pretty much the way of the real full Web site now too. As a guitarist it used to be a mainstay, now I look elsewhere.

I personally prefer "Songster", but it is also 5x the price. For the price, I think it is worth the buck.
Best I can think is try it out for a couple hours. If you find the ads unbearable, get your refund.look around

I own it via Amazon. Last week I loaded it up with some songs before heading into a backcountry area with no cell signal. The app would not work without an internet connection to authenticate. I was quite annoyed but fortunately had most of my stuff on a different app.

Could be an Amazon specific problem but something to be aware of.

I prefer Guitar Chords and Tabs Pro. They are extremely similar and both apps will sync the saved songs on your devices in the cloud. With Ultimate Guitar you set up an account, and Guitar Chords and Tabs Pro uses your google acct to sync. I prefer it for this reason.
They both seem to draw from the same (or at least similar) pool of available tabs.

I have tried a lot of tab apps and all of them have a problem with the scroll speed. The slider to control the scroll speed is always impossibly small and too sensitive to try to adjust on the fly.

Its prompting me to upgrade for $10 (which is 50% off their original price) for anything and everything I clicked in that app. Got the refund :-/ Guess its not for a beginner.

Any cheap app suggestions for beginner lessons?

I only own the Google Play version of it and turned off my internet to see if it'll load. It says "Error Contacting Licensing Server."

I subscribed to this for a few months. Finding the place on their website to cancel my account took me an hour and a lot of googling. They're shady at best. There are free sites with content that's just as good.

Not to TC my own deal, and not necessarily a portable solution, but I would suggest the Reddit sub r/guitarlessons. Good info there that constantly refreshes. I've learned a lot. Enjoy and happy playing to you!

Save your cash on this one. Ultimate Guitar is literally worse than cancer these days. Ten years ago, the situation was completely different and UG was my GO-TO site for tabs - but not now. I have had this app installed for a while and it is completely useless.

I completely agree with this recommendation! Justin is awesome! Funny, I've never been to his website, but I'm subscribed to his YouTube videos. Although, I learned about Justin through Reddit.
