I've been wearing the ASICS GEL-Blade 4 shoes for the past year and a half to play racquetball (2-3 times a week) and they have held up really well. They're light, well cushioned, and feel very comfortable. I ordered a 1/2 size down from what I usually wear and my width and arch is medium. They're starting to show more expected wear with the amount of abuse I put on them. I replaced the insoles with Thin Sof Soles and have been able to use them for a few extra months. Even though the GEL-Domain 3's come only in Neon Green, I'm looking forward to getting them and making them my main shoes.

What is the difference between these (volleyball shoes) and other general Asics athletic shoes? What makes a shoe a "volleyball" shoe?

Thanks in advance!

The 'volleyball' type shoes have stickier soles (that would also wear down faster if you wore them outdoors) because they are only meant to be worn on indoor courts. They have stiffer soles than running/walking shoes, and offer more support for lateral movement than basketball or running shoes, and allow the ankle to move a bit more freely than basketball shoes. They are much lighter than tennis shoes. I find their volleyball shoes also work well for badminton, since the movement profile is similar. But these would wear down really quickly if you tried to wear them on an outdoor court, and also would probably be uncomfortable to do much walking or running.

This pretty well sums it up. These shoes are made for court sports. The sole is not intended to be used outdoors. Definitely not intended to be used as running or even walking shoes.

Not sure what is meant by 'general' shoe. Asics makes shoes for a variety of sports and the proper shoe should be used.
