I used to love IHG since the points never expired. That changed a year ago, and I lost a bunch of points. Frown

Did you lost a bunch of points due to inactivity?

It's simple to avoid expiration over a 12 month period. Absolute worst-case, just associate all of your CC's to your IHG account and spend a couple of bucks at one of the restaurants. Although, with a free night at any IHG resort gained annually, I don't know why you'd ever even run into this situation...it's the lone reason why you should have this card to begin with!

Agreed, but the rules changed without my knowledge. I used to travel on my last job, and I never thought twice about my IHG points since "they don't expire". Lesson learned.

Exactly. Sometimes I use this card bc it has the 3% on restaurant. Better than nothing.

I been using this card in combo with points + cash. I stay at those 5K points for $40 deal (no other tax) and it has been stretching. I always pick the Express for the free breakfast. Doing well so far with this card.

So am I, and I know we're not alone. woot

I'm almost on my 3rd year. I used the 80k sign-up points on a couple of 5k rewards night specials in AZ and CA, and a bunch of 15k and 20k properties in expensive parts of CA , FL, and even New Zealand. I've used my 2 freebie nights at a 5* Crown Plaza Resort in South Beach, and have gotten upgrades at virtually every property I've stayed at, including the Venetian and Palazzo in Vegas on multiple occasions

I don't ever use the card for any regular spends, but did recently decide to buy 110k points for $690 during a recent promo...purpose being to redeem 4 nights at 25k each for an upcoming stay in Queens, NY during the US Open and the heart of baseball season...the Holiday Inn is in walking distance to both complexes. Sick deals all around with this card!
