To get this deal, you're signing up for TrialPay. http://www.trialpay.com/legal/terms/ I got a deal like this before, and ended up with a bunch of marketing email.

Why would you need to bring a bag into a movie theater unless you are sneaking in food/drinks ? It's a reasonable thing to do considering the shootings that have happened in the theaters! I'm all for better security.

no it's not reasonable, it doesn't stop anything. Like a gun doesn't fit in a waistband. There is plenty of times I have a backpack or similar on me when I am going places. But as you mention this stops food and drink not guns.

do ew really want to have a belongings checked each time we go places? This is a slippery slope. Do you get paid by regal to defend them online?

I'm not sure about you, but I am legally allowed to conceal carry, so even if they checked in a bag, I can still carry it in the theater.

To play devils advocate, is there stuff in the bag you are embarrassed about or don't want others to see? If so, it probably should also be left in the car. I get that our rights are our rights and all, but there are a LOT of places you can't take backpacks in without getting checked. Alternatively - you could open your own theater and let me bring a rollback suitcase of food, alcohol, fireworks and guns if you wanted. Smilie

Amusement parks, concerts, strip clubs, strip clubs, strip clubs, certain employers, courthouses, and other fine establishments check bags. I could name more, but its almost 3am and I'm tired.

If you don't want a bag to be checked at a place you don't own - just chill and leave it at home, a friends, a car, a locker, etc.

It's not about whats in my bag it's about I don't want to pay someone to check it in the first place. Most places that I have lived have many theaters around a reasonable radius. Why would you support a place that is checking bags (that clearly doesn't stop a person who is determined to get something in) when you can go to a cinemark or the like and not get harassed. It comes down to voting with your dollars. I would imagine Regal sales have taken a hit since this scheme has been implemented.

Your not paying anyone at Regal extra though. The theater ticket taker checks tickets, while a police officer is present for bag checks during popular screenings. The price of tickets hasn't changed in years at my Regal theater. It's $8.10 for matinee and $10.60 for evenings. Last time there was a hike was when 3D was introduced 10 years or so.

And again, it's not harassment. You can simply leave your bag of stuff home. Or in your car. Or you can bring it in, and they might check it. They don't dig through your bag item by item like boarder patrol, it's a discretionary 2 second check.

I obviously didn't mean that you pay the security personally, All other things being equal such as ticket price why would you go to Regal then the other theater around you when you wouldn't have to deal with a cop and have your belongings searched. I didn't know that it was actually a cop which makes it 10x worse. A lot of people don't like dealing with cops under any circumstances let alone a purely optional one such as this. It doesn't stop someone from bringing weapons which we both agreed on so what is really being accomplished. That is besides having to deal with a bully with a gun. Sometimes I don't drive to the theater so yes sometimes I do have a bag with me. If you understand voting with your dollars then why would you vote for this? It doesn't make sense.

If they post no guns...u are not allowed to bring it in. Same at the PO, office. Officially, no guns. Ruling on the gun issue was finally addressed, last year.

Gonna join in on team no bag check. Imagine going to dine at a restaurant and the hostess checks your bag before seating you. Or if you go into Costco and there's a line at the front checking your bags before you enter. Where does it end?

Fun fact - was in Bangkok last year and every mall entrance there's security station where they check your bags prior to entering
