I've had the Audio Technica AT-LP60 in my cart for a while now but this is 60% less. Would this be good for someone just getting into vinyl?

I don't think I would buy this OR the LP60.

Cheaper turntables tend to apply too much weight/pressure and can actually hurt vinyl over time.

The LP60 has a more proper weight but other issues make it a compromise rather than a sound turnrable choice you will want for years to come.

I think this video does a pretty good job of summing up why these types of record players are not a worth it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WzrK6CIZrY

I went with the LP120 over the LP60 because it has better features/upgradeability for a long term investment. I thought this video was useful for entry level record players (same guy): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUIVkpw9eNk

I'm quite content with the LP120 I must say!

This is a pretty cool design and cool idea, but I'm not sure it would be entirely worth it as the quality isn't as good as a nicer turntable.
