Bought this last month just for making jerky and it works amazing for the price. Got a 4 pound London broil from Sams and got the butcher to slice it 1/4". Marinated it overnight in Veri Veri teriyaki. I pulled two trays off at 5 hours as I like my jerky soft and steak like. Had the rest go for another hour and it was perfect for the wife. Paid $13 for the London broil and it made 18 2 ounce ziplock bags for snacks. Have done peppered and a simple chili lime with just lime juice and chili powder and both turned out very good but teriyaki is still our favorite. It is loud but we put it on in the morning and go to the beach and come back and it is done.

Thanks for the jerky review; has anyone tried drying fruit in this?

I got this last time it was on SD. It cooks at a 175 degrees and worked great on my first round of jerky.

Besides jerky, and maybe dried fruit, can anyone give other ways this thing is useful?

I've had one of these for four years and enjoy it. It gets used for my garden's hot peppers 95% of the time and does fine without a thermostat. Since it is loud and the hot pepper vapors are tough to breath for hours, I just use it outside or in the garage and set an alarm so I don't forget.

If it uses heat, it's not a dehydrator, it's a very low powered oven.

got one last time it was on SD, and while it is loud, the jerky came out wonderful. surprisingly it only took 6 hours to get the perfect jerky. it does ship in a box that is a little suspect but all the correct paperwork came with it. great price too!

you can buy extra trays that fit in it perfectly. MORE JERKY!!!
