512 reviews with a 4 star plus average is fishy? I don't expect greatness from this but it will do the job. The component (Cree LED) is the most important part.

Will an American counterpart have superior design and ergonomics? Absolutely.
However at ten times the price for an item that you'll likely lose.

Compared to the Maglights back in the day that were the be all end all even Chinese clones are a 100 times better. Yet we somehow survived and functioned.
I've yet to buy a Chinese flashlight that I'm not happy with coming from Fenix and Surefire.

You lose a $200 flashlight once before you you decide that compromises are well worth the trade off.

Do you have trouble reading or understanding basic terms like "fishy" ?

Not any surprise fishy reviews would lead to abnormally high ratings (hence your 4 star plus average).

Also recent reviews state the "discount price" was only around $6 bucks...so not even a good deal now.

I do. If it was that many positive reviews on ANY other website than Amazon then I'd question it.

For example the company liftmode will give anyone $20 off an order if they send a link to a positive review on any website EXCEPT Amazon.
Another reason I don't see an issue for suspicion is the price. I paid $3.50 for a Chinese Cree clone light that was at least double the weight of this one. They were very usable worth every cent in performance but it wasn't a light you'd enjoy carrying ever day.

At this price, with this Cree component and with this form factor then they're a good deal at $7.
In 10 years with Amazon, I've never had a return that wasn't smoothly handled so what's the big fear here for the price of a fast food hamburger combo?

revtronic had a few lights available on Amazon Review Trader. I got a AAA one , brightness is ok, but it had a blue beam. Supposedly there was a Panasonic led inside, the thing I like about it is the body is much thicker than my other one AAA lights.

I just looked , this model light also has Amazon Review Trader reviews for it.The people on Amazon Review Trader either get an item for free or ad discount; so a lot of reviewers feel obligated to give it 5 stars.

The bulk of them the usual "I got this free or discounted for an 'honest' (sic) review."

This thing is no Fenix, and definitely not an American-made Surefire. It's the typical junk seen on Bangyougood or DeceitExtreme.

I'm sure your points are good, but it's hard to take them seriously when you punctuate your advice with Trutheresque, vaguely xenophobic wordplay puns. It creates an impression that maybe the serious parts of your message are also predicated on an unsophisticated or biased opinion.

Despite the risk, I think I'm in for one because the gifted one I have (different off-brand) is shorting after a couple years, and this seems a reasonable place to dip my toes into the high pressure world of LED flashlight connoisseurship I've been training so hard to join all these years at Slackdrools.

I hope enjoyed this week's vote in Britain. Big Grin

Your so-called "intellectual" hubris is based far more on narcissism than the facts. I'm sure it's "inconceivable" why anyone wouldn't "think" (sic) like you do.

There is nothing "xenophobic" about what I said. Banggood sells junk and then battles you when you ask for a refund. DealExtreme is the same, but worse. Then again, only a fool acts like what you call "xenophobia" is "bad."

If you hold SlickDeals in such contempt, why don't you GTFO?
