I taped mine up, and covered part of the sensor, but if it was in the yard sun, leaves, clouds, etc would set it off. Currently it has even more tape on it, and is under my front porch. It will still get false reading, but it is better. (at least for a front porch alarm, but I can't point it at the driveway)

That looks very much like the Harbor Freight one that goes on sale sometimes for less than $10 (one sensor). My dad uses the Harbor Freight model and it works really well. Has it setup on two driveways leading back to a shop basically in a forest. Very few false chimes. When it chimes, it's nearly always a car coming up the driveway. If this shares the same guts, it's a pretty good setup I think.
