Seems like a really good deal for an i5, full HD laptop. It does have USB C (3.1) which is good but it does not have the latest LAN speed (1000) or WIFi protocols (AC). The biggest downside to me would be the slow hard drive but for the price I'm very tempted.

That's a misprint--it does have gigabit.

Thanks for the info on the misprint. I'm assuming the WIFI is not AC though.

To give perspective, for the latest generation CPU (and i7 vs i5), etc. it is almost $200 more:

Not really. You can find similar configuration from Acer, HP or Lenovo, at around $450-$460 price range and almost all of them come with 6th Gen Core i5, WiFi AC and Gigabit Lan.

I'm surprised it has a DVD drive. These ultra slims often don't.

Then it's not an ultra slim. Don't let the marketing speak fool you.

I haven't really kept up on computers like I used to. I should though because mine is really outdated and I don't want to spend a lot, but I want to get as much computer as I can get for the money.

I thought the same but went with a DVD less machine long time ago about 3-4 years maybe. haven't needed one ever. even in dire straits there are deals aplenty on $10-$15 AR USB DVD drives. unless graphics cards matter to you, no reason to go with bulk. the portability of my HP Spectre x360 can't be beat unless we're talking high end ZenBooks or Apple.

at the end of the day, your usage should dictate the purchase though.

Please share those deals/configs? Acer I don't care for but how about the HP and Lenovo? Show me with Touch Screen and the high res this model has.

On one hand, graphics cards don't matter that much. But portability isn't a high priority either.
