If you actually read the bad reviews, they are ridiculous. Giving 1-star without buying a product or giving "this is junk" review is not very useful to potential buyers like us.

That looks huge or is it because it has a tiny screen. I don't know why manufacturers don't put something for reference (not a banana) but maybe show us what it looks like mounted on dash.

Anyway,
how about this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/think...Id=7715261

Looks pretty cool actually, no screen, smaller footprint.
Forget it, 120° viewing angle.. pretty bad for a dash cam.

I love the form factor of those Thinkware and Blackvue dashcams. They can be hidden away from view as a dashcam should. I have enough distractions in the car, don't need another bright LCD screen on my windshield to blind me.

I actually had this Dashcam it wasn't very good. It was way too bulky and you have to use the suction cup to mount and overtime it may come lose and fall out and break the camera and your car dash.

It doesn't recorder audio either, there's no microphone in the camera. I wanted something hidden and looks OEM and got this camera instead. It's so far great little camera, hard to even tell I have a dashcam installed.

Isn't thinkware one with narrow viewing angle?

The screen dims and then goes black. Nothing bright or blinding.

What you don't want is a 160 degree or more. I have the Xioyami Yi and while it records at 1080p/60fps, it does so with a fisheye appearance. Stick with 140 if you can find it, but regardless get 1080p/60fps. Stay away from 30fps!

I disagree. I'm okay with the fisheye distortion because you want to see the corners of your car, not just down the hoodline. It's still personal preference though, but I feel that it will be more helpful to see what's happening in the periphery.

The best dashcam is still the Street Guardian SG9665GC. I upgraded to it after a year with the popular G1W. The difference is quite clear in build quality, processor, image in the day and especially at night.

People often place a banana next to an item when they photograph it, to show scale. ie 'banana for scale'. It was popularized on the website www.reddit.com
