I have HD800's(original version), PM2's, LCD-3's, LCD-XC's, HE500's, and a few others. I have been buying them over time for quote a while, and I realized that I have WAY more than I should invested into headphones, but it is so hard to pick which ones to get rid of. Now everytime I see a new headphone deal I rationalize that if I buy this one new super pair, it will effectively replace two or three other sets that I have... which never ends up happening, one pair is always WAY better than another for a particular genre, gaming, paired with a certain amp/dac (don't wanna talk about what I have there), etc. I could probably buy a nice used car if I got down to one set of headphones, amp/dac and DAP.

Fair warning newbies, if you see this and decide to get into headfi... you are basically getting into a crack habit.

For those already addicted, this seems like a nice deal, I am checking on resale after fees of the DAP and dac/amp... I only need the HE1000's. I will post back what I find.

Well, you are either an "inspiration to all of us," or an example of "don't let this happen to you!" -- by chance you might be both simultaneously.

I got the LCD-3 deal earlier this year (it came back once again recently). It was my first expedition into serious Head-Fi, though I still have and love my vintage 1980s Acoustat electrostatic speakers so I already had a "bug" decades ago but got distracted for a few years of "normal life" in between.

I haven't checked resale on the amp and player but I suspect a lot of people have been getting that amp on Adorama combo deals recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is an abundant supply on the resale market which will lower prices a bit. I played with it a bit and it's a nice amp though I wish it had the balanced output end. (one recent bundle included a different amp which had a balanced output; rare in a portable dac/amp).

That is one of my main requirements too for DACs and AMPs, and DAPs now too that I have a set of JH Roxanne's(original), UERM's, and UE18's that all support balanced cabling. I recently got a bundle deal with a set of HD650's paired with a SHIIT Valhalla (with a few sets of nice tubes thrown in) which is SE only, but DAMN does it sound good. I have read some engineering type posts that say that a well implemented SE design can sound better than a poorly engineered balanced, or the same as a similar balanced circuit. I have seen some really nice boutique amps that seem popular that are SE only as well, from engineers that have good pedigrees, so I dunno. If you see a good deal on a respected SE dac or AMP, maybe don't hesitate to try it out with your cans. I have already invested a lot in balanced cables though dang it, so balanced it is....

Also, the resale prices on eBay:

iFi Micro IDSD Amp=between $300-$500 before fees/shipping if you pay shipping,
Astell & Kern JR=between $250-$500 before fees/shipping if you pay shipping,

assuming BIN at $400 with reserve at $300 for the iFi; ebay fees=$49 (WTF??), and Paypal fees are $12, so assuming it sells at $400, final take home is $339.

Assuming BIN of $350 with reserve of $250 for the JR assuming it sells and $350; ebay fees=$43(someone needs to start a company to compete with these criminal b*stards), Paypal fees=$11, so assuming it sells at $350, final take home is $296, with a total take home from both of $635.

Used price on HeadFi around $2000, one listed right now from frequent respected seller for $2099 basically LNIB for three days with no bites, and there are quite a few posted over time, so he would probably take $2k flat including shipping and Paypal fees(his original post includes these fees already), so for me in this case the gap is too big. I don't mind buying used from HeadFi, I have purchased quite a bit on HeadFi, and have always received as described or much better than described. It seems that HeadFi'ers / audiophiles really take care of their sh*t.
