While the sansa medial converter (and many 3rd party apps) can convert DIVX and many other formats to something the player can play, you cannot just copy a divx file to the sansa and play it.
FYI - it is a really tiny screen. It is not worth the effort to use it for video. If you feel you absolutely have to do video on it, it works best with files converted with ffmpeg to work on rockbox, but it still looks like crap. Video is just a gimmick on this, not a reason to buy it.
I read 2 GB, but if you Rockbox it you can use up to an 8gb microSD cardif it is HDSC.
What else I learned is that you cannot use DRM (read Rhapsody) music when running RockBox, only ripped music. However, if you load RockBox you can load it or the standard Sansa OS (I guess you hold the left arrow on boot up to go to the stock OS).
So, I am going to use this for Rhapsody....8gb of DRM will go onto the player itself, and I'll get some microSD cards for ripped music, and just switch OS's....kind a pain I suppose but I'll live with it.
(again, I got all this from the three different Sansa threads I was reading...so credits to all of them).
Rockbox is custom firmware that greatly expands the features of compatible players like this one. It is much better than the original firmware IMHO, but it is not an eithor/or choice. Even with Rockbox installed, you can always boot into the original firmware just by holding the left arrow << button when turning the player on. You don't loose anything by installing Rockbox.
They do not install Rockbox for you, you must do it yourself. You can also easily uninstall it. I posted guides and fixes for this in the previous thread about this deal, Install/uninstall guide is at post #73:
I did not copy the guide here because anyone with any questions about rockbox or the e200 series should read the previous thread. Every question posted here so far has already been asked and answered in that thread.
Tota1Ecl1pse, Itunes is proprietary Apple bull and it sucks. There are ways to remove DRM from files but they are mostly illegal, and downloading them from torrents definately is. If you want to know more you'll have to google it yourself. I'm not trying to preach, but asking for advice on how to commit crimes in a public forum is generally a bad idea.
OK... I didn't say tell me how to commit crime... I was just curious what is DRM or whatever... I assume if you D/Led songs from Torrent it is already hacked by someone?? if not then it's not. I think you are going little over reacting. Quite honestly, I want to say I am the person bought all the songs I own; however, I do have few songs that I D/Led... and I am sure average people does own few D/Led songs or songs from friend.
Does anyone know if it can record voice live during the speech and how is the quality?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "during the speech" but, it got me curious so I played around with recording my voice and then the TV a bit. As with any recording system, the closer the mic is to the source, the better the recording. When I had the mic 3-4 inches from my mouth, it sounded great at a regular speaking volume. It still sounded good at about a foot and at arm's length.
I tried recording my TV audio. Sitting about 12 feet away from the TV and at its normal volume, it recorded about like you would hear in the background on a phone, maybe a bit better. The dialog was very legible and understandable on the player.
I wouldn't want to use it to record a CD of original music for release, but, shoot, it seems to work pretty well.
I am thinking to buy this as a gift. Will the package, or somewhere mention this is recertified?
The back has 1/8 inch tall silver letters (decals, I think) saying REFURB on the back of it. From that I understand, you can remove them by wiping with a damp cloth, but I haven't tried that because I don't care that it is there.

I have one of these and I love it. Just got another one for my best friend.
I just received my Sansa e270 yesterday. Downloaded music with no problems at all. Was quite pleased with it. Until today. I hit the video button and it started playing the little prerecorder video for about 15 seconds. Then the screen slowly got darker and the player died. It won't turn on. My computer won't recognize it. It won't charge. I don't know if I just happened to get a lemon, because from the posts just about everyone loves theirs. As of right now I'm not happy, but I'm hoping froobi will take care of this for me. Waiting to hear back from them.
