Norwegian Air is offering some crazy fares to Norway from New York right now. Here's an example:

JFK-OSL January 27, 2017
OSL-JFK February 3, 2017

Total Cost (including taxes, fees and surcharges): $263

Lots of other dates available through the Fall and Winter.

Happy Travels!

I love norwegian air. Flying them Boston to Copenhagen this September for a song.

Just read that the US might finally give their Irish-subsidiary the final go-ahead for trans-atlantic flights in and out of Ireland after years of resistance. Domestic carriers better look out... their cash cow TA routes days are numbered. Maybe they'll actually have to be competitive based on some formula of quality of service and price. Imagine that!

I agree. Low fare competition is good for the industry and the consumer, so naturally the big legacy carriers hate it. Bring on the foreign competition.

Seat assignment, checked bag fee, carry on fee ?
Norwegian Air Price: $263
SAS Price: $732

Exactly how many bags do you think you can bring and still come out ahead?

Oh, and Norwegian operates the brand new 787 Dreamliners. So there's that . . .

Fair enough. I do see Turkish for $600 for same dates, free bags free stopover in Istanbul and some pitiful amount of UA miles(I believe they offer free stopover)

Anyways. I don't see much value in this fare imho

Norway is an amazing country and yes, it will be very cold in Jan/Feb if you take the dates suggested by the OP. But who cares? Go explore a new country in their winter, which is their "main" season anyway. They are all setup to for winter activities. Enjoy it!

This a great find. My brother lives in Norway. Just know that if you go, Norway is one of the most expensive places on earth. A Big Mac combo will run you about $15 just as a point of comparison. That said, I've been there in December/January. Yes, it's cold and you'll only have 5 hours of daylight (twilight), but take the opportunity to go somewhere new. I highly recommend Norway, just don't expect to do it on the cheap once you get there.

Oh, and don't expect to have much in the way of alcohol. They tax the hell out of it. The last time I went, I didn't drink for a week as a 6 pack of decent beer at a grocery store was close to $40.
