Watch out for HP. I bought an Envy 17T that had problems. It had the same processor as this with the 17in IPS screen, and 8gb ram, and 4gb dedicated video card. It wouldn't even connect to a new HP printer until their tech support took over my computer and changed setting for 25 minutes. Worked for a few days, then when I called HP, they said my problems were software related. I said the only software on the computer was put there by them. They said it didn't matter, they only warrant the physical parts and told me I would have to pay for them to check for software issues on a 4 day old $900 computer. Needles to say, it went back for a refund.HP, NEVER AGAIN.

Seems like it has a PCIe NVMe slot and a 2.5" drive. So you can get the cheapest 1TB option and then add your own PCIe NVMe card later for a boot device.

Is it just because of they have the option for PCIe or you have specific source/experience? They might have two different configuration coming in different model. But if they do have PCIe and 2.5 drive I would definitely go for 1TB and put my own PCIe.

They give you the option of both in the same box. I doubt if you order a 2.5" only config that they have a different motherboard for that. Wouldn't seem prudent.

I'm looking for a new work/play laptop for my son - he has a 4 year old Envy with a dedicated graphics card - would this one let him play WOW/DOTA/Overwatch OK (maybe a few other Steam games)? Thanks for any help you can give - the price looks good!

Blessings & Peace,
Hugo

It is all about your budget. If you write you budget maybe some people can help you. But I would definitely say that you need a dedicated video card.

This might be better deal for you:
