$500 in rebates? Holy hell that is alot to risk....

edit : If you are doing this rebate I would recommend sending it via certified mail to make damn sure it arrives.

Been waiting for this, buying it now.

Bought Tammy 24-70mm from the April deal, followed all instructions, got Slickdeals Rebate Mastercard in a month and Tamron rebates (regular + Educational) within 2 weeks.

I am in market for this lens .. But that's a lot of rebate to handle and then I saw reviews on Amazon stating that some people received grey items where tamron didn't accept serial number for warranty .....

They are authorized resellers for Canada's Tamron. You still get the 6 year warranty.

This strikes me as weird since the same lens is basically $930 new in Japan. I know, different markets, but still.

It depends on from whom did it buy it for. Buydig (seller here) is authorized Tamron retailer, they dont even sell grey market items, and you can register lens for 6 years warranty with their invoice.

Usually people dont pay notice to item and just buy the cheapest one (on Amazon and ebay), and realize later they didnt buy a US model.

I have contacted the seller and he is an authorized Canadian dealer. You get 1 year USA warranty and remaining 5 years Canadian warranty. In case of an issue he provides free shipping to his location and will send the lens to tamron canada. Then ship it back to you. Seems like thats a better deal then waiting for rebates.

assuming he is around to handle the warranty or even wants to. i don't think he is under obligation to by tamron.

edit:

actually that guy is wrong:
Quote :
Tamron USA, Inc., or its authorized agents, will not repair any product that is not an officially imported product and sold through an authorized Tamron USA dealer. In other words, there will be no authorized repair service under any circumstance for grey market products. In such a case, the user must return the product to the dealer at which it was purchased for unauthorized repair service.
meaning they are saying the dealer will fix it and they won't
