Thread Details

I didn't see this posted, usually this monitor hovers around the $1200+ mark. This is the lowest I have seen this monitor go.

I'm looking at getting my first gaming PC (i7-67000k,32gb ram gtx1080,2tb-hdd/250gb-ssd) and this monitor is the one I want to go along with it. $1100 may still be too much for me, maybe when it drops to $1000.

q1 next year they're releasing the 144hz 4k monitors....not that you might be able to push that very well without 100% SLI, but hey, they're coming in case you want to hold off! Smilie

That's the one thought I'm holding to, to not buy this. 2x 1080, should get close to 120 fps I think for most games.

no...Benchmarks show that SLI 1080 on max settings on AAA games average 40-70FPS and many have minimums still below 20FPS

even SLI isn't going to come close to pushing AAA titles at 4k over 100 fps. we're still a generation of more from that.

The benchmarks I saw on Guru3D with 1080 SLI were pushing 80+ to 110 on average, single cards are doing 40-70. Although that review is still incomplete it seems.

Depends on the game. Most games averaged 50-70 like i said at 4k on ultra settings. Most had minimums of about 40, but some had lower (especially CPU intensive ones). For example, Metro Last Light Redux hit 22FPS minimum and averaged 36FPS

If you want constant 60+FPS at 4k on Ultra you still need 2 cards. (which is what I am buying with my new build woot)

Mm you could argue against that. From a gaming perspective I think a higher refresh rate and a larger size screen matters more hence why I vote for acer x34 / Asus pg348q as the best gaming monitor money can buy. Not to mention that the curve on current gen is very subtle as opposed to the curvature on the next gen acer

higher res will stick much longer on me than 144 hz, this is literally 70% more pixels than a 1440p monitor....70%!! I am not trying to play anything competitively, but I will still do some serious gaming for fun when I want to, and that curve is only really attractive when gaming full screen or watching movies, once you start going into productivity mode or having your girlfriend look at it at the same time as you it just looks silly...I would agree though with larger screen, I doubt two inches will look that much bigger but if I could get it with the ginormous res I would
