Thread Details

Got an email this morning from WATCHLAB which said:

"Want to be rewarded for sharing your opinions on a wide variety of products and services within a diverse set of industries? SmartLAB is the place for you! We are currently recruiting totally awesome people like yourself to participate in our ongoing research panel!"

So I clicked the link and filled out the survey.

I got to the page where I was given the "virtual high five" for qualifying to be in their panel. I then agreed not to disclose anything, and the last page asked me for my contact info (i.e. address, phone, etc..) as they said they sometimes send things to panelists to try (which, at that point, was 96% of the screener done). I then hit next and it says:

"Thank you for your interest, but unfortunately you don’t fit the criteria to participate in the SmartLAB Panel. Thank you for your time!"

So, they basically tell me I qualify in order to get my email address and home address, phone number, age, etc... and then say I don't qualify, and kick me out.

Sounds like a bait and switch, and this isn't a panel, it's a way to gain people's info so they can sell it. Mad

Hmm, that's odd. I had the same email, signed up, and began doing profile surveys today. Is it possible they filled their quotas by the time you filled out your form?

Not sure why they would tell me I was qualified and then dump me.

Red: Call them up on the phone and request all your information be deleted from their data base. A legitimate marketing research company will do that.

Don't call something a scam just because you didn't qualify.

I just joined yesterday after receiving email. Did the few short screeners they had up and earned 60 points, pending for one day, and available for cashing out today which I just did.

To qualify means to be eligible for something.
There's one thing to qualify for something and another to be chosen.
In your particular case you did qualified but was not chosen.Frown
