I have the 8 inch version. It's amazing! when seasoned properly it is practically non-stick and has great heat distribution.

As an FYI this thing is ultra heavy. Not Back to the future heavy either.

Been waiting for the 12" ever since I saw the 10" on sale at Amazon a while back. Yeah, it's only $3 savings, but still a savings on a nice product.

~$17 is a fairly good deal for a 12-inch cast iron skillet. If you don't think it is, please point us to a better deal. I sincerely doubt you'll be able to find something cheaper that's from a reputable brand.

Nothing wrong with that. Good cast iron should be heavy. I, and my wife prefer cooking in cast iron. Nothing beats a good, well seasoned cast iron skillet. Practically non-stick, and clean up is a breeze with a damp cloth, and a paper towel to dry. Also, the weight helps keep the skillet from sliding all over the stove top, while cooking or serving, unlike those lightweight skillets that you have to chase all over the place!

There's a reason you never see deep discounts on lodge cast iron stuff, it's solid cooking equipment. I love using these skillets for pizza and seating my sous vide steaks.

I'm thinking of leaving my teflon cookware for cast iron. How is this for use on a glass cooktop? I'm worried about the weight and me accidentally setting it down too hard and cracking my cooktop.
