EOS 70D EF-S 18-55mm IS STM Lens Kit Refurbished

Comments:

$30 more than body only ($699.99) for 18-55mm IS STM Lens Kit. Body only was $649 pre-Father's Day, but the good price on the decent kit lens helps. For those of you who have not yet compared, the 70D has a great focusing system that is reviewed better than the 7D or T6i. The image quality lags in low light below the Nikon 5500 and Canon's new 80D. I like this camera for it's build quality, FF, touch screen, useability and great (if slightly behind the best) picture quality. JMHO.

------
Kit comes with:
  • EOS 70D Body Refurbished

  • Wide Strap EW-EOS 70D

Pre Father's Day it was 649 with the lens kit. Still not bad.

The 70D is a more substantial camera both in weight and size, but it has weather proofing that the 6Ts lacks. It also has a a technically better autofocus system (probably not much difference in real life), better battery life, larger viewfinder, and longer burst shooting in RAW (who doesn't shoot raw on a dslr with how cheap storage is?). It can also do microfocus adjustment if that's your thing.

The 6Ts has marginally more megapixels which are meaningless, but it is significantly lighter and smaller if that matters to you. It also can shoot hdr video, which the 70D can't.

If you're a dslr noob either camera will be fine.

There are multiple threads on dpreview about this particular topic.

Wait for a better deal on the 70d. I just got an 80d body only for $700 after all rebates. The 18-55 lense is very cheap and isn't adding value to the bundle and this bundle with the older camera is $730.

If you can get a 70d with 18-135stm lense for $800 (pops up every now and then) that would be a good deal. That's a $200+ lense.

Either of them (70d/80d/t6i/t6s) would be a substantial upgrade from your T3 though.

Edit: here is a link to the 70d with 18-135mm IS STM. It was $799 a week ago: http://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en...id=C126149

Probably because it's a wash. If you're not invested in Canon glass, the Nikon 7200d and perhaps even the 5500d offer better low light performance and supposedly image quality than the equivalently priced canons. For stills. Video is a different story? I cannot attest to this as I was gifted a lens that cost as much as the 70D so I only considered canon when I upgraded from a rebel xti to the 70d.

If low light is your primary concern, I'd keep the t3, perhaps buy a fast L lens that will last you through an upgrade or at the very least retain its resale value if you jump makers, and attempt to save for a full format. Just my 2c.

It was $1200 from BuyDig via eBay, with Printer and Paper included. $350 Rebate and sold the printer and paper locally for $150.

Also got $96 back in eBay bucks but I'm not counting that.

Same links as posted in this thread. Canon just updates the prices when they change.

I guess anyone who cares about FF vs APS-C would know, but this is an APS-C sensor not a FF sensor.

I've owned a 70d for two years and it's a nice camera. Banding at higher ISOs, but does what I need it to do.
