The 2n1 21010625 is a good deal. Been installed and connected to wink for a year and still at 90% battery. They are also loud as hell....

Why is a 2 story escape ladder only 13ft in length. Seems too short. I'm picturing my young kids jumping 6-8 ft down to the ground. Why not just make it a few feet longer?

I can only speak for a my home - distance from ground to level of the window on second floor is 14-15 ft.

Makes sense. I was thinking 9 ft ceilings but I guess the window isn't at the ceiling on the second floor. Thanks for making me feel stupid.

The 2 fire extinguishers for $48 are selling for $30 each (on sale) at Menards. Seems like a good value but still hesitating a bit.

Anyone had experience with fire in a typical American all wood house? Can a extinguisher be helpful or its usually all fire crackers?

I am just yet to see 1/4 house burned. It's usually all to the ground.

I went ahead and bit (but hope to never actually have to use it). But a 6' jump is better than a 20' jump. We have a tall house (10' ceilings, 4' foundation), a 22' extension ladder gets me to mid-window on the second floor.

I had a really bad fire in my garage a while back. It was a mixture of several different things once it was blazing. A fire extinguisher is the only thing that saved our house from burning to the ground. I have been trained several times on how to use a fire extinguisher and that is very important for anyone that doesn't know I suggest you search it and learn how. I really hope no one ever has to use them. I always kind of felt that a little fire extinguisher wouldn't do much but it saved our house from a fire that was seconds from being completely out of control. One more thing mount them where you know where they are and can get to it easily. I knew where mine was but it was still in its box and very hard to get to. I now have fire extinguishers mounted and in easy reach in case something ever happens again
