not sure how the seller calls it new when it "may not be in original packaging"...

It's a "new, other!"

Everyone else calls this an open-box item.

Yeah this is not a new item. EBay should get rid of that horrid "new, other" category.

MS today announced Surface 3 discontinued later this year. Not sure what if any will replace it. MS wants to focus on higher tier Business class /and price/ product lines.

this still remains the most portable surface which runs full windows so if you value portability above else might be worth a look.

Very portable, but the performance is terrible.

People like to hate on the Atom CPU, but the SSD/flash storage is horrifically slow.

Also, while it's nice that it uses micro USB for charging, charging is extremely slow.

I forsee the 128GB/4GB model dropping to similar prices. I would wait for that instead.

Edit: For those that are skeptical about RAM, you can actually use Readyboost on your microSD card. It's not as fast as physical RAM, but it'll def provide you a small boost.

Was there ever a big surface 2 fire sale like they did with the surface RT?.

Yes I know, apps blah blah, but for a general "doing mundane internet n things" device with keyboard, its better than lugging around a laptop and with way better battery life.

Is this considered a good deal? I was going to sell off my Surface Pro 3 64GB for $400 to my friend and that's with the keyboard.

you actully cant, the ssd is faster then the bonus given by readyboost.... that was a gimmicy thing that kinda helped hdd.
speaking from experience using a surface 3 before getting a pro.

Just use internal storage for that purpose. It's slow but much faster than a external sd card.
