Air Vent 18-in Dia Electric Gable Vent Fan - Cools up to 2300 sq ft
Item # 85893 Model # APG
- $43.60

If buying online, change your zip code to 30004 and order at least $50 worth of items after coupons to get free shipping. Otherwise you can try for a price match in store.

YMMV, but I'm attaching pics in case your store will price match since it doesn't show on the tag or receipt as being clearanced. Other Lowes stores are selling them for $112+. Online my store showed zero inventory, but they actually had 3 on display in store. Our attic temp just registered at around 165 - 170 degrees, this fan suggests programming it to turn on if the temp is over 100 degrees. It's supposed to drastically cut down our A/C bill. You can buy solar models for around $200, but those are not gable ones and involve cutting into your roof which increases the potential of leaks.

Reviews: Looks like many from 2010/2011 are negative vs positive ones from the last couple of years. I think the model number may have changed since they state that back in 2010 there was only a 5 yr warranty whereas now there is a lifetime warranty, also people are saying that it is quieter and more efficient now. Hopefully that means they've improved the quality, guess we will see! Sort by newest to oldest to see the difference in reviews.

UL listed with thermal overload protection
30% quieter and 35% more efficient than comparable units
Automatic thermostat
Fan blade is encased in a patented innovative series of rings

The smaller 1320 cfm that only cools up to 1900 sq ft was $85 and not a good deal.

I'm glad someone else saw the deal. I wasn't sure why the post was changed to expired right after I posted it.

Oops...turned out that I was the one that goofed and put it in the wrong forum! Thx mods! Smilie

Glad to hear it! Zip 30004 shows 2 still in stock online.

Also, for those purchasing, we were told to buy the wiring that is encased in metal (see on receipt) in case squirrels or mice get into the attic. Also get enough feet for it to reach to your power supply. We needed the 25ft since we were going to be using the garage door outlet.

To expose the wiring without risking cutting into it, the electrical guy suggested bending the metal back and forth first.

The tools needed are common household ones and there is a cut out on the back of the box and directions for how to install the attic fan yourself.

Thanks - picked up a couple. Hopefully the motor doesn't burn out like the reviews say. I used the 15 off 50 coupon Smilie better than 10.

Also, doesn't Lowe's offer an extended warranty option? I'm kind of wishing that we would've opted for that, but either way I think the $40 motor will pay for itself. Our bill last summer reached the $400's with one month hitting $500. According to someone on YouTube , if you have balance/vibration issues, you can supposedly use weather stripping and rubber washers.

Good deal; just installed the 1320cfm version a few weeks ago. No issues, but I would be upgrading if there were any of these models around here.

Hmmm, shows full price for me at the locations with stock. YMMV, as the OP said.

Thanks. Used the 30004 zip referenced in the post above and that came up. Repped for the suggestion.

Hmmm, just read those reviews and they are a bit off-putting. This is not the kind of thing that you want to have failing or malfunctioning. May need to hold my fire.

Bad reviews, but for the price, in for 1. Thanks OP. Plan on using it for a very hack-ish project - a "whole house fan" for the garage. We'll see how long it lasts.
