I use biodegradable doggie poo bags to scoop up my litter. I have over time come to have 6 kitties, most of which were found outside, and this system would come to cost too much. The doggie bags are cheap, easy, and don't have holes like most of my grocery bags tend to do.

I have one of these, and honestly it's easier to grab a grocery bag to put the scooped poo into, and toss it. Emptying the genie was a pain since it'd get heavy. I've become a big fan of sifting liners too - lift, sift, toss in grocery bag, done. Big Grin

I have one, mostly because my dog will get at the cat litter otherwise. It's good, but those liner refills kinda destroy the "cheap" effect.

i have had one of these for my apartment and it is the best purchase i ever made. I have used it for six months for one cat and i have only had to use 1.5 liners. i think 3 liners is about $20 on amazon. imo if you have an apartment the $20 a year is well worth it.

also we share our apartment and the litter genie is right in our bedroom (which is why we needed it) and we have never once smelled it.

really makes it easy to clean the litter box every day which is important for your pet. worth it even though the refills cost a few bucks.

These are sure nice, but the refill bag dispensers are expensive. I'll probably figure out how to use it with grocery bags when our bag cartridges are all gone.

There are some generic ones on eBay that are ~30% cheaper than the Genie brand. I don't know how well they work, but it's a pretty simple dispenser, so I can't imagine it's any different than Genie brand.

I agree. even a diaper genie would be better for litter, this thing is a monumental PITA

we used to do that. the smell was horrendous. you must have broke olefactory nerves. the difference is night and day. or horrendous stench and no smell.
