First I've seen this too. Seems utterly ridiculous. How often does one have to configure their router? Must be for the technically inept.

Any real difference between the av200 (up to 200Mbps) and av500 (up to 500Mbps),
considering to be used in my home LAN each side hook a 1G port router / switch?

I know by number it would be the bottleneck, but curious of the real scenario. Remember some posts said some factors (e.g. LAN NAS' USB port won't be 1G at all, perhaps less than 200Mbps) had already bottle-necked the real bitrate, so no need to worry 200M/500M - they won't be maxed out anyway.

Thanks.

Any thoughts on the Trendnet 24 port GigE switch in OP vs. a TP-Link rack mountable switch on Amazon for $68.91 after $20 rebate? Tax with both newegg and amazon vary so ignore tax for the comparison.

https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-24...B003BU0EKW

edit: weird - rebate details are not showing correctly any longer but it is 88.91 - 20.00 rebate - nevermind - appear to be correct again

Tricky question but most likely yes. The bottleneck will be the 200 Mbps powerline. Even if your devices are all connected to the 1 Gbps switch the data has to first pass through the powerline adapter. However, between PC's that are connected to the switch it won't matter. In reality, unless you are streaming 1080P or greater videos and/or gaming it probably won't matter. The speeds are fine for netflix, youtube, internet browsing etc.
