Just wanted to let everyone know, I just bought an Xbox One on June 12th for 319.99

Since E3- they announced a slimmer version, but the regular ole' fatties have dropped in price and now have a controller incentive

So I took my receipt back into my local store and they price adjusted today and gave me the free controller. So if you bought any time this month, since return policy is 30 days- bring your receipt in and get your goodies. Free Controller Promo started on the 22nd

So for 299.99 You Get

Xbox One - 1 TB HDD
Halo 5
Gears Ultimate Edition- Gears 1,2,3
Rare Replay
Ori and the Blind Forest (Digital)
Free Bonus Controller

Also I'm a rewards member and I earned enough for 13$ in Microsoft Store Credit with my trade ins and purchase of that system

Excellent deals to be had if you wanted an Xbox One.

Hope this helps people Smilie

After that hit up cdkeys and get Sunset Overdrive for 12$ and I believe floating around are still Xbox Live Cards for 39$

The 1TB Tomb Raider Bundle the other day for $205 was much better imo...But considering this is more about getting a refund, thumbs up.

How pray tell if the external drive is the same 5400 RPM as the internal?

Most people use externals that only connect via USB and are 5400 RPM.

Not knocking your post... just pointing out that most on this site (which revolves around getting items for less than full price) will have bought this item for cheaper anyway.

Kudos to you for working out a way to get more for your buck! That's what this site is all about. Try not to take things so personally... this was not a knock on you at all...

20 bucks plus an extra controller is a solid deal if you couldn't wait for a deal posting on an xbone, if for example, you needed it for a gift and couldn't wait.

Because not all external drives are 5400rpm.
I have a 7200rpm 2TB connected via usb3.0 and it is indeed faster than the internal. It's a joke. Xb1 has turned me off to consoles so hard and I went back to pc.
But for a comparison I did a bunch of personal tests with loading times and for Witcher3 on average had something like 20-30seconds less loading times when loaded off the external. I found some notes, a Skellige save was about 1min, 17 secs off internal and 57 seconds external.
Not to mention I did come across stories of people using 2 HDDs in raid or even an external dock for an SSD and using that via usb3.0 as well.

I know that.... I addressed it in my comment. MOST people that use them use 5400 RPM. After all, extra storage is the primary concern here, not speed. I still wait for the entire team to load in R6 Siege...

Of course SSD's and faster spinning drives will be quicker than the internal drive. This is a given.

It would be nice to have the elite xbox with its 8gb SSD cache for faster boot times, other than that I need more storage, not speed.
