Deal Details

I just stopped in my local GC (Winter Park, FL), and got this flyer for their in-store deals through July 4. Some good bargains, notably:

2016 Gibson SG Faded Series T $599.99 [guitarcenter.com] NOTE- web site still shows regular price. See flyer- it's $599.99. Most sites I found have this for $739 and Gibson excluded from coupon codes.

Also, online you can get the 2015 SG Special Commemorative Edition in Heritage Cherry [guitarcenter.com] for $599.97. NOTE: This one has the G-Force Tuners and some questionable Les Paul graphics, but if you can deal with that it's a great instrument!

Here's the link to the 2015 SG I believe this is from Gibson's web site since GC doesn't have images: http://www.gibson.com/Products/El...ecial.aspx

Lots of other deals here- see the attached flyer for more on the 2016 SG, and others.

Also, save another 5% by buying gift cards through Retailmenot.com HERE [retailmenot.com].

Brings these to about $570.00 plus tax.

The G-Force are loathed by many, but I personally am good with them. Yes, the LP signature from when he was old and shaky makes the head stock less classy. $600 is pretty sweet on these IF you want to buy one new. They go frequently on used sites for $400. The Gibson Epiphone versions go for sub $200 often, but now I am comparing apples to oranges. Smilie

I prefer my EPI SG, (built as well, sounded nearly identical, played identical) to the Gibson SG I just sold, that would not stay in tune for anything, with any strings, with three different set ups and a new nut. Good riddance!

Yeah, Gibson has been notorious for inconsistent quality control. The 2016 SG Special T I got a few weeks ago needed a setup (nut was high, among other little things), but now it plays and sounds great and stays in tune. Though FWIW and for the money, I do agree with you on Epiphone- the build quality seems to just be getting better over time and they're turning out some good instruments.

That said, I love the Gibson SG, And if you want a Gibson (and even if psychological I do think the Gibson has a better overall feel to the Epi SG's I've tried- but I do admit the USA made Gibson brand does still mean something positive for me, personally) this SG Special is a solid option. Also, from some recent online reviews, it sounds like Gibson has ironed out a number of QC issues now in this 2016 model year.

Side note, for the 2016 they thickened up the fingerboard, which feels really comfortable- sustain is phenomenal, too!

It's a B&M deal for the 2016 anyway, so you'll get to play it first hopefully and judge for yourself.

Do these deals start now? I may have to head over tomorrow if they do! That 2016 SG seems like q great deal! It's prices around the same as the Epi. I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro that just screams and plays amazing...I got the tuxedo white & black with gold hardware. I had to send the first one back due to a crack in the neck but LP's are notorious for that. I was eye-balling the SG Faded a few weeks ago online. I was going to do a payment plan through American Musical...the only drawback for me is NYS tax...it will pretty much wipe out any savings on this deal. I wish Musician's Friend was running the same deal (same company as GC) then I wouldn't have to pay sales tax

Huh. Hard to tell without the picture. I'm not aware of any other 2015 SG Commemorative edition out there? Musician's Friend comes up with a link to one, but also no picture and they're out of stock. Not saying there isn't one with Kluson tuners, just wasn't able to find it... and I exhausted myself spending at least 60-75 seconds on Google trying to find it!

Glad to hear it! That fireburst looks soooo nice. By the way,

By the way, you can save another 5% by buying gift cards through retailmenot.com.

Here's the LINK [retailmenot.com].

That brings these to +/- $570 + tax!

Also, 2015 Fireburst is out of stock. Guessing the 2015 is limited stock Cherry still available for now, though. Edited original post.

True but if Guitar Center doesn't update the prices online or have a flyer mailed out to me I'll have nothing to prove it to Musician's Friend
