I'm seeing 1070's and even some 1080's popping up in stock all over the place today. Stock seems to be holding.

This one's the cheapest

$449 is the retail for the founders edition. Eventually you'll see $379. Cheapest I've seen is $399 and it was in stock for about 5 minutes.

Beats paying close to $400 for a 980ti unless you have a specific game requirement that runs better on an OC 980ti than a 1070.

These (and others) have been in stock for about an hour. That's good news as it means the prices will come down.

If you want one now though...

MSRP for stock cards will be $379. Overclocked cards with different/better coolers will always cost more.

I dont understand why people buy expensive graphics cards. i have an HD7850 and it plays all my games on medium. paying $300 to get fancier graphics is like a waste of money.

people can afford it, its not a waste of money if there are improvements. a waste of money is knowing that if you speed on the road, you put yourself out to get a ticket. Now thats a waste of money.

Several reasons actually though it is a matter of personal preference and opinion.
  • Having a 144hz monitor and wanting to get higher frame rates to utilize your monitor while still being able to play at high or ultra settings is one very viable reason.
  • Another being the 'value' of this card. A ~$400 that outperforms last years $1100 card seems like a good value which one would hope would 'future proof' you for a while.

You're happy with your VHS copy. Some of us appreciate the Bluray.
