Eh, I would tell people to wait for Adorama's sale on the refurbished models for $479.

This one appears to be new. I do not have any experience with the seller, though....so not sure about the warranty.

Why buy a refurbished for $480 when one can buy a brand new for $530 even though is grey market. Your point doesn't make sense and is useless. Most grey market are made in Japan and have superior built and more durable. All grey market cameras I have bought I never required a warranty.

refurbished from adorama is basically new. maybe there's 100 shutter count but that don't really matter much. I think he has a point...

I bought this refurbished a while back, it came with roughly 400 clicks on it. This is still a good deal, this is a whole lot of camera for the money.

The point is a camera that may break at some point (never requiring warranty work before is only good in the past) would be a better deal from a authorized seller over a pig in a poke from a grey market seller without any recourse if you want it fixed either in warranty or outside of warranty. Some dealers won't work on grey market items.

Where did you get the information .."most grey market are made in Japan and have superior built and more durable"..? Where do you get that information by reading the label inside your underwear?

You just answered your own question. Warranties are important to many buyers and grey market items do not provide them. Refurbished models, especially from trusted sites like Adorama often have quite good coverage.

Also, please provide sources that suggest grey markets are mostly made in Japan and superior in quality. As it stands, what you said is "useless".

I recommend you take some time to reflect - are you confining your mind too easily? Don't be quick to write off other options, or ridicule others for having a preference. There is often no "one best way" as everyone has different needs.

I haven't seen that deal in months. It's been slowly getting more and more expensive whenever they restock the refurb units. They actually just got them back in stock [adorama.com], but it's pretty much too expensive to be worth it now.

The baseplate of my D750, which I bought retail in Japan and from a normal online outlet entirely in Japanese (so, not a tourist trap), says "Made in Thailand."
