Like with recent Marriott business credit card offers, the annual fee is not waived the first year.

Reports are it does not apply to this particular business card. YMMV.

I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should get this knowing it will eventually merge with my spg card. Any thoughts on that matter?

If you have plans on spending that much in the next 3 months and have a need to use the 100K Marriott points I don't see why not. Whatever will happen after the Marriott & SPG programs fully merge doesn't really matter for now since it will still take a while for that to happen.

I got two nights at the Mayflower in DC for 70,000. I think it was over $300 a night when I booked it. They reduced it from 40000 or whatever it was per night late Sept.
