Temporary cellphone provider in US

likeundu 247 22 June 30, 2016 at 12:48 AM
I will be traveling to US from India for couple of weeks. Most likely I will be visiting the US 3 times a year, each stay spanning 2 weeks. I need both voice and data. What cellphone service can I use for such temporary stays? Thanks.

PagePlus has excellent service at low cost. Simple plans are available on their website.
You can buy an Android phone directly from PagePlus, or you can buy a used Verizon-branded phone on Ebay.

Once you get the service set-up, you can download FoxFi app ($2), and use your phone as a Wifi hotspot.
You'll pay PagePlus for the data used, and it will quickly drain your battery, but it's good to have available when you're traveling.

Hi,
You should be able to bring your Unlocked GSM phone and once here in the US, you can buy a sim card from either Boost, Simple Mobile etc, for as little as 4 $ (search ebay/amazon) and there may be small additional fee for one time activation + a monthly service fee of your choice, 40$ per month, 50$ per month etc.,
Hope that helps.

Also, if you walk into local cell phone store ( street side & not in malls), you can get the above company services and they can help activate. If you are asked an ID, your PP should be enough.

If that fails, Look to rent mobile service- rather expensive though.

ringplus is the best solution if you want to keep your US phone number for free or low cost.
