I jumped on this. I'm a little scared but hopefully it will work well. no tax for me and $8 next day shipping made this a no brainier.

I was mad I slept through the Amazon deal, so this was a must for me, even after shipping of $20+. Monoprice filament qualifies for the 20% off too, so I picked up a spool of PLA to try out for $16.

The new smaller Monoprice printer is also a good deal for a hundred bucks less: http://slickdeals.net/f/8884859-monoprice-com-mp-select-mini-3d-printer-172-79-local-pickup

MP charges real shipping. Not some BS flat rate. So it all depends on how far away from LA you are.

Dude, the one that went for $214 on ebay was dirt cheap. This is merely a good deal.

Got it. $27 for standard shipping to Michigan. I thought maybe amazon was matching and they got $8 next day from them. So tempting but the shipping hurts the deal.

If shipping and tax are too much, you can possibly get it for $305 shipped via ebay with coupon code CruiseN2Summer before 3PM PST today.

$13? What are you referring to?

$15 1kg Inland Filament from Microcenter is the best deal I've found.

I'm new to this. Can someone recommend what type of filament and from where to get it (best deal plz) abs/pla?

Or which filament that's best to order with above 3d printer (convenience) '

Thanks!

The best cheap filament is either Hatchbox ABS/PLA/PETG or Inland Microcenter filament.

You can order Inland filament from Microcenter online for shipping. The shipping prices are reasonable.

This is from someone who has printed with every filament brand imaginable and has well over 1000+ print hours on their printer (honestly I don't even know, it's probably more like 2000 by now LOL).

I generally use ABS (but a lot of people use PLA), but I've been looking to PETG. All the benefits of both ABS and PLA. The only drawback of PETG is it tends to blob on fine detail. PLA is a little friendlier than ABS since it contracts less, but it requires a cooling fan since it has a lower melting point.

thingiverse.com for finding stuff to print.

free easy-to-use cad software:
OpenSCAD (if you're a programmer)
tinkercad.com (newer hobbyist)

The best free slicer is generally CURA:
https://ultimaker.com/en/products/cura-software

If you're willing to invest the money the best slicer is Simplify3D, hands down, but it's $150. It really is way beyond the other slicers out there, both in print quality and time required to print.

slic3r at one time was good, but the author has since gone AWOL and released massive broken code.

I prefer Mattercontrol. Open source and much nicer UI than Cura. We are typically helping students and teachers learn how to use the machines so simplicity and ease of use is best. Will check out Simplify though. Thanks.

We use Tinkercad 10x than probably any other single thing. It is incredible!
