How does vudu work? I pay it, and can watch once, or I can watch it any times I want?

Vudu is Ultraviolet. So, once you own a movie, it will always be in your collection, and you can watch as many times as you want.

I'm tempted to buy this just for the Special Extended Edition, not because of the additional footage but because it has Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. The fact that the regular version is still stereo (after years of complaints to Vudu) drives me nuts.

Damn, I was going to point out that people can add the movie for $1 from the blu-ray (w/10 conversions or more in the same cart) w/ their D2D at Home program.
I added it (believe it's just T.E. though) a while back but didnt watch it on VUDU yet, was planning to as 2nd movie prep. bummer...

Where do you see that the EE has Dolby Digital Plus 5.1?

Yeah, I got my Theatrical Edition via D2D and it's a dollar I wish I could have back now. I couldn't wait to watch it because the DVD used to be my favorite surround sound demo disc. When I got the Vudu version, I fast-forwarded to the crop-duster flyover and thought I must have left the receiver in the 5-channel stereo mode (which I use for music) because there was no front-to-rear pan. After double-checking my sound settings, I eventually found out that the stream was only stereo. Huge disappointment.

Then, I went through some of my other titles and found that Black Hawk Down, Master and Commander, and something else that I can't remember were all stereo. BHD and M&C both won Academy Awards for sound, for crap's sake!! In fact, I remember watching BHD in the theater and telling my friend, "This sound mix better win an Oscar." It's an insult to the work of those sound engineers that the Vudu versions are stereo.

Hey Blade,
It must have either been on my Android Vudu app or the PS3 app. I just know it wasn't on the web page-- I remember checking the "More Info" tab for the Extended Edition and being irritated that it didn't contain the usual technical details. Then I decided to check my other devices but I was so exhausted at the time I can't remember which one had the sound mix info. Maybe both, though the "More Info" tab on the PS3 Vudu app usually matches the web page exactly so I'm thinking it was probably the Android app. I'm not in a position to access my tablet or PS3 right now so I can't confirm.

If you purchase the movie, you own it forever & it is stored in a digital cloud like locker online for you to stream.

The original is much better than the new Independence Day. I'm glad I only paid matinee price to see the new one. Wasted 2 hours.
