It will be helpful to do some research on exactly what monitor speakers are. As an audio engineer, I use these (monitors, not these Mackies) because they produce a very flat sound and de-emphasize certain frequencies. Making it easy to ensure a mix/master will sound good on any home/car stereo system.

Hailing these as great speakers for consumer playback is a mistake.

rebate is okay Wink FORM [mackie.com] ! I don't own the speakers - but audition 'em @ friends house (as comp. speakers!) in a medium size room - these will blow any comp. speakers out of the water : clean, powerful sound ! lows are good, but a good sub. would help ! Rock

no a big fan of Bose (but I own some laugh out loud !) - anyway imho ! - Mackie is a much better choice sonically but are a bit larger, yet, more or less compact ! bottom line : OPs and bose aren't in the same class ! do your music a favor, don't get bose - Mackie in much better sounding ! Rock
