Is this a good deal for $170? The specs look good, but not sure of the performance. If you have experience with this chromebook, please share.

That looks to be one of the better deals I've seen on a chromebook. Newer cpu, 4GB ram and a 1080 screen for $170. Great deal.

Performance wise if you're going to open 35 tabs and are used to doing that on an i7, this might seem slow. If you're used to using an i3 or less, or you're only opening 10 tabs or so, this is going to be fine.

As an aside, I own several acer chromebooks I got from groupon. Indistinguishable from new. One came with a broken tip on the AC adapter. I sent an email to groupon and acer. Groupon credited me $20 groupon bucks and acer support answered my email on a sunday about an hour after I sent it and mailed me a new power brick for free.

Thank you so much! I use i5 Dell Laptop at work, I also use i7 desktop at home. I also have i3 laptop (2011-2012 model) and find it painfully slow. That is the reason I am looking for a fast, affordable and light laptop/chromebook. I hardly open 3 tabs. Everything looks good on this laptop except the weight which is almost 5lbs.

Are these Chromebooks able to watch HD Netflix / Youtube or is 720p best they can do?

I've found that with CB's, count on the lightweight OS to move you a 'step' up the cpu chain. So this celeron CB will feel like a similarly clocked i3 with windows. I can go from my i7 desktop to my i5 chromebox and it feels about the same in chrome.

If an i3 with windows feels slow to you, this might as well. The only real slowness you might see is probably going to be when you open chrome and all of the tabs fill.

You can't find an i5 laptop for $170. No backups, you don't have 57 things updating all the time, no need for virus protection, etc. They're good no-nonsense machines.

Nice fast Chromer with a nice screen but I was surprised how big these are compared to the 11.6 inchers I've been using for the past 5 years. These are light for a 15.6" laptop but I really don't consider them very portable. If I sat at a table or desk while browsing I would definitely jump on this one but I tend to kick back on the couch while surfing.

I agree that Chrome OS is fast enough to have these feel faster than the specs alone may suggest. My wife has an Acer c720 with the now older celeron & 2gb ram and feels noticeably faster than my i5 laptop w 4gb ram.
