Thread Details

Humble Bundle [humblebundle.com] is currently offering the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - Multiplayer Starter Pack as an early unlock for the upcoming Humble Monthly Bundle for August.

If you subscribe now, you'll receive the game immediately. Additional mystery games (~5) will be unlocked on Friday, August 5th at 1:00 PM ET. While your subscription is active, you'll also receive a 10% discount on all purchases from the Humble Store.

The cost to subscribe is $12, and could be as low as $10.80 if you've received a 10% coupon from purchasing recent Humble Bundles (applies to new subscribers only).

You can cancel your subscription at any time once you receive your Steam key for the COD Starter Pack and you will still receive the mystery games on August 5th.

This is an amazing deal. In addition, Humble monthly bundle is awesome. This should be front page considering you can buy Black Ops 3 right now today for $12 or $10.80 with coupon. That's probably half price of the lowest all time or better. PLUS, you get 5 or 6 other games. People need to stop faking. Anyone that thumbs this down already has Black Ops 3 and is just hatin'.

But BlOps3 is just the multiplayer starter pack.

No single player.

No DLC.

And do you have to re-buy the whole game to get the additional content?

It's only $14 on Steam because it's a stripped down version of the game.

From the Steam link the OP provided.

I am installing tonight. I will let you know if I can do singleplayer. I understand it doesn't come with DLC. After entering the key from humble, steam shows that I own the main Black Ops III on the store page. Not sure what I own at the moment, but I'll let you all know soon enough. Steam does not seem to show that I own the "Multiplayer Starter Pack $14.99" thing, but hey, I could easily be wrong. Photo attached.

Heh, figured this would get downvoted a bit. Arguably the weakest early unlock yet, a glorified paid demo of sorts. That said, every bundle so far has been of at least decent value. The July bundle was probably the weakest to date and it still had several interesting and well-regarded titles.

I'll probably stay subscribed for August so long as I can find someone to take the COD Starter pack off my hands for $5. No interest at all in that.

pfft. indeed. i'll have to file bankruptcy on this deal. it is indeed only the multiplayer pack. both the "campaign" option and "zombies" option in the main screen menu are gray'd out/disabled.
theoretically, i have never played a campaign on any cod, but i do indeed feel ripped off on this one. just bought cod aw for $10, and i am sure it comes with the campaign. seems i am gonna lose some cash on this endeavor. $12 + $15 (for the "rest" of the game, is $27, so looks like I am out about $17 bucks, compared to what I wanted to spend on a game I may or may not ever play.

i could see a lot of people cancelling their humble monthly over this. not like humble promised us anything, but still. fairly disappointing. i suppose they have some time to remedy this impending fail, but i ain't gonna hold my breath.

with that said, cpu and gfx sure haven't come a very long way in 7 years. i can still run this game on the low/low settings with an amd black edition and hd 5770. pretty sad.

Does Humble Bundle reveal any of the other Monthly games?

I'm used to getting Bundlestars, Indiegala and Humble Bundles for a few bucks after I know what the games are. I don't think I could ever pay $12 for an unknown collection of games when the chance of repeats or getting lame games is so high.

That said, I was pretty surprised the latest Humble Bundle called "Revelmode" wasn't posted on SD. I guess nobody thought it was worthwhile even though it had Nidhogg, Skullgirls, and a couple other decent games for about $4.50 (now over $6). But there's no understanding why some deals are posted on SD and others aren't.

I was actually in the process of posting it on Tuesday afternoon. Had the OP written out and everything, but whenever I attempted to submit the post, it just wouldn't go through. Tried for 15 minutes before giving up and forgetting until now.

And yeah, it is a fantastic bundle. Golf With Your Friends is just delightful and Spelunky is one of my favorite games ever. Even with the BTA jumping ~$2.50 from its lowest point, I should try posting it again.

I'll reply to you in your new thread.

BTW, I thought about posting the HB deal too in its first hour but I figured someone else would do it for me. Most of the time my deal threads get very little attention and I feel like it's a waste of 5-10 minutes to write up a nice OP and such. Funny that the few times I've had FP deals it was on the stupidest stuff that I thought didn't deserve to be OP (like Dynex batteries). The stuff I thought was really cool (like a certain amplifier) was crickets chirping. HBs are weird how they either get a lot of attention or not much. I'm happy to let others post because as I keep saying I don't believe SD rep points affect if you get into heaven or not.
