There is a front page deal on the 1st gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface for $99, but I don't see any mention of this deal from Guitar Center for an almost identical product for even cheaper. Right now, for their 4th of July Sale, Guitar Center is offering the Presonus Black Audiobox 2x2 USB Interface [guitarcenter.com] for only $79.99. Nearly identical specs--about the only difference I see is the Focusrite claims 96KHz/24-bit (vs 48/24 on the Presonus) and the Presonus has MIDI in/out that the Focusrite does not have. For most users and typical uses, these will both perform the same. And there are some (including me) who even prefer the Presonus brand.

Just thought that anyone in the market for one of these might be interested to know that there is an even cheaper option.

I wonder what the latency is like on this. Might be worth spending the extra $20 for a 1st-gen Scarlett.

I first bought a presonus and the latency was horrendous on a PC, no matter what I tried. On the phone with customer service for a couple of hours and nothing got better.

Finally returned it for a Focusrite 18i6. It was fantastic. Got 2ms latency with no problems what so ever.

If you're using a Mac maybe the presonus is a good option. The windows drivers are nowhere near as good as the Focusrite drivers.

Just my experience. Maybe others have had better experiences.

That's funny because after reading the reviews, it is only the focusrite users that mentioned latency issues. Indeed, improved latency is a KEY feature of the new 2nd gen focusrite!

I don't have either product, so I don't care, and it sounds like both can be finicky.

But something is definitely fishy. A NORMAL price on OLD technology goes immediately FRONT PAGE, while a similar product (equivalent by any objective measure) for a MUCH better price is simply ignored.

Is SD shilling for adorama now? I don't see any other explanation...
