Hey guys,

I didn't see this posted, so I thought I'd share. This is slighter more than the other day per drive, but decent if you only need 1 drive.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

$140 is the best / average deal on these 4TB HGST drives. There were a couple times lately where you could get a bundle of two for $275 (or $137.50 ea.), but other than that, I have never seen the 4TB HGST NAS drive for $120 as you claim.

I bought one of these 1.5 years ago for $135. My knee jerk reaction is that it must be lower now. But after a quick slickdeals search, it appears I got the lowest price in a long while.

So, for an HGST NAS 4TB drive, this is not a bad deal. I would guess if you switched to a desktop (non-NAS) type or a different brand you could get a lower price. I suspect the reputation of the HGST drives are keeping the prices higher? NAS drives are almost always priced higher. I like them because they won't hang on failure which prevents the NAS system from slowing or hanging when a drive starts failing, but that firmware tweak doesn't justify the higher price IMHO.

Here is the $135 price thread from 1.5 years ago..

Wasn't the 5.4k rpm drive $90 recently.
As someone who got a 4TB drive for $40-$50 from TigerDirect before the holiday, I just can't justify paying more than $80-$90 for such a drive.

I have 14 of these running in two different qnaps for nearly 2 years now.. They have been flawless. Upgraded from the garbage 3tb seagates and have been very happy.

This is a 7200 RPM drive and you will not see this drive at $80-90 for many years to come. That $40-50 drive that you got from TD was probably a refurbished, non-NAS drive, too.
