this game is real average. does not live up to the original starfox 64. motion tablet controls unnecessarily forced and ruins the experience. paid 47 on release day and I regret it.

I appreciate folks like you taking the time to post candid comments like this... makes it a lot easier for others to assess the product's worthiness. .. I also have Starfox 64 - this deal caught my eye but your comments have helped my to stave a hasty buy decision... Thanks!

I really wanted to like this game but it took two playthroughs to get a command of the controls. Also, I hate how you can jump between planets. that totally kills the linear replay value. And no multi-player battles? No split screen co-op? Is a solid $20 game but not worth the $60 I paid in advance.

you're welcome! I hate having buyer's remorse so if I can help others avoid it I'll gladly do it. I should've been wary when Nintendo delayed this to brush up the controls. most of their 1st party titles are usually solid but I don't know what happened to this one.

My GameStop had quite a few used ones in stock a week or so after it came out. So, I would buy it used just to do the story then return it for your money back. A crappy game is an acceptable excuse when it comes to their used games, but not new.

Just for the record, Star Fox 64 is the second game in the series. Third if you count the basically finished but unreleased Star Fox 2.

I could not get used to the controls in this game. Somehow Nintendo expects you to be able to look at both the gamepad AND the TV at the same time. Based on what you're doing, you may need to look at one or the other. This whole gamepad view idea feels like it was slapped on at the end and poorly implemented - it will ruin your whole experience.

I loved Star Fox 64. I remember watching the promo tape from Nintendo over and over again "You mean it actually lets you feel the game?" and salivating over the "revolutionary" Rumble Pack. I bought it on release day and played it to death. As much as I want to experience that feeling again, this game isn't it. Too many cooks and no one internally to tell Miyamoto that his ideas aren't always great. Play Star Fox 64 again if you need a fix. If you've never played Star Fox 64, then by all means play that instead of this one. The series just lost its way after the N64.

This would definitely be a rent/borrow release or else you're likely to come away feeling cheated. The graphics and voice acting are right in line with the rest of the star fox series but mentioned in a few previous responses the motion controls ruin the experience. Worse yet there is no option to turn them off. Trying to use the game pad to fine tune shooting and the joystick to aim is very clunky and unnatural feeling. The big issue is that the second joystick is right there and they didn't use it.
