Fan of good quality dark chocolate, but 90% isn't that enjoyable.

So true! I love dark chocolate but these really high percentages are just inedible to me. It would make for good chocolate to stock your house with while dieting, you wouldn't overeat! Smilie

Does anyone else still have a stockpile from the pre-summer sales? I have been giving lots of random chocolate gifts lately!

I do not tolerate dark chocolate well but if I need that pure of a fix, I eat cocoa beans, 1 or 2 at a time Wink

Where do you buy cocoa beans? Eat coffee beans instead?

Too bad those sample box credits don't work for this. Bummer.

I get my cocoa beans from Amazon: Navitas Naturals Organic Raw Cacao Beans
Sometimes, TJMax if I need immediately.

I do buy tons (too many) coffee beans for my espresso addiction Wink I wish I knew an easy way of making my own chocolate coated roasted espresso beans but anything on YouTube, looks messy.

I don't have the original packaging right now but as long as they are kept in a dark and dry container, you could keep them for a few months easily after opened. Humidity is detrimental in my experience.

To use them up faster, you could grind them with your coffee beans (I do it occasionally but just a few beans), add them to morning cereal (I do it all the time+hemp), sprinkle it on pastry or even top of cappuccino or so.

I eat chocolate decaf coffee beans. It's cheaper and I can keep it longer. Will try Raw Cacao Beans when I see good deal.

hey cocoa bean eaters - when i was a kid i remember my dad had some kind of chocolate espresso beans...and when u bit into them, they were super smooth, not crunchy

when i recently (2 yrs ago) went to a chocolate show and tried the same thing, it was disgusting and it was crunchy inside with actual hard pieces.

so my question is, i want to order good ones that arent crunchy (b/c that is just disgusting imo) ....however i dont recall what it is properly called or how you distinguish

Cocoa beans are crunchy.

The chocolate enrobed espresso beans are also crunchy inside, based on what I have had. However, a well roasted espresso bean while crunchy is also very porous and nice to bite on. If the core is smooth, it might be because it is ground and mixed with some kind of butter or syrup.

simplest way I know of to ... approximate the chocolate covered bean is to simply use chocolate squares, warm them and then gently push the espresso bean into them. they look fancier, and are cheaper to boot!

Thanks so much. It certainly is doable and not messy at all. I am going to do it tonight Smilie Cheers!
