I have been looking at the Samsonite S'cure spinner 28" hardshell no zipper, 3 clip close system. I am done with zipper suitcase as they eventually all get worn out.

This is the best deal I can find even with past Slickdeals...

http://www.buydig.com/shop/produc...gage-Black

Black and Red are listed as $159. Blue is more expensive.

Use "Travel10" code to get additional 10% off, so brings the total to $143.10.

Free shipping and no tax!!!

not crazy about the wheels on this one - but have another samsonite hardshell suitcase for more than 20 years now - and would buy it again in the heart bit. After all those years it still looks like new and other than minor maintenance on the wheels - I had zero issues.

I am crazy about wheels because I refuse to pay $5 for carts at airport. Plus, I travel atleast with 2 luggages internationally.

Whats so special about these suitcase compared to others since you've been tracking it. Because $150 is still premium price to pay when you can easily find same length at 1/3rd price.

I can't say yet, but the main reason I decided to get this suitcase vs others are the following:
1. Zipper less. I had many samsonite suit cases and travel internationally. Zipper failure is not repairable by Samonite as I have tried.

2. My in laws had 4 non-Samonite hard shell suite cases with the 4 clips for closing still working great since they purchased 30 years ago. Many trips and the main issue there is the worn out wheels which can be replaced.

I plan on using luggage straps (2 of them in the criss cross pattern) to make this luggage stand out.

I never liked Hard-shell due to assumption that they will be easy to break specially way luggages are handled at airport and assuming non-hard-shell have flexibility to handle rough handling.

I've couple International trips coming along in next couple weeks, wanted to have good looking luggages appropriate for Business class travelling. Wink

I think the standard is 22x14x9.... although there are some airlines that vary. Samsonite measures only the compartment side, but most airlines now include the full length including handles and wheels...think for a Samsonite a carry-on should be 19" to meet the 22" spec. if you check in luggage the total measurements should equal ~40 or so but each airline defers.

You can find "premium priced" suitcases at a lower price at stores like Ross or tj max.

What I meant is that those wheels look a bit flimsy for that size suitcase and they stick out way too much. I think that they will be broken in no-time.
My old Samsonite has wheels that are "submerged" the the body of the case - a bit less space inside - but wheels lasted 20 years or so. I had to replace them because they simply wore off.

Hardshell is not really stiff, but is fairly flexible which withstands blows to the case and I am pretty sure that luggage was thrown around.
