I had this in my wish list. It only has 3 stars review, but I pulled the trigger because it looks cool, and I can use my bluetooth. Will work well in the garage.

Usually sells for $167. A similar model from Nodsound sells around $160 if you take into account the shipment cost from China.

Save around $50 from the usual price.

Free shipping for Prime.

I would buy this if it provided 4X the wattage.

Those are 4 light bulbs on the front.

Horrible reviews.

Thanks OP, I purchased a refurb from Monoprice a few months ago and have been happy with it.

I've read that this isn't a true tube amp. The tubes are there just for show and are not actually in the audio circuit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this and cringed.

I suppose its true purpose is as a hardwired amp and the Bluetooth is added for convenient alternate input, but we all know there are going to be a few who solely bought it for wireless music from their phone.

You are right.
The tube part is the pre-amp and the actual amp is a solid state one.

They shoud ditch the bluetooth and at least add a phono preamp. It would also have to have a DAC since there is BT but no digital in. This device confuses me

I have this, returned it once, the second one still had the same problem: A computery whine whenever bluetooth is on. Even when listening to the hard wire the interference leaks through, I have to disable bluetooth on my device to tolerate it.

It looks beautiful but it's whole main reason for being is intolerable. I should have sent the second one back too.

My understanding being a hybrid amp the tubes are in the preamp stage to give it a little warmth, and it's driven by solid state amp. Reading some reviews people have experimented with different tubes, and can hear differences, and the consensus is they're more than show. The only issue I have with mine is some EMI Bluetooth leakage that's audible enough through the headphones. There is a fix by opening up the amp and isolating the Bluetooth module, I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Don't fall for those misconceptions by people who's never even seen the unit. The tubes are true ECC85 amp tubes used as first stage pre-amplification. There are many discussions about this on the net.

I read about changing tubes for better sound, so went and bought some vintage NOS ECC85 from Czechoslovakia to replace the stock Chinese tubes, a very worthwhile upgrade! The sound got warmer with much more evident of the classic tube sound signature. I've gone through several sets of speakers on this amp trying to find the best sounding combo, and I ended up with a cheap pair of Andrew Jones' Elac Debut B5's. Now if you are a youngster looking for bass to blow the dress off your dates, this setup is NOT for you. But if you want the true-to-life sound tube amps provide, this amp with the Elac speakers will rival those setups costing several thousands. I literally had somebody came into my office thinking some lady was singing behind closed doors. It sounds so warm and realistic, it's hard to beat for the price.

The bluetooth range is limited, so I have it connected to an Apple airport express for airplay. But when I want to indulge myself, I mainly play vinyl records on this amp when I want the best sound. At this price it's probably THE best deal for a near audiophile grade sound quality amp you'll find anywhere.
