Still bought it because I needed a nice dehumidifier since our older one stopped working.

I bought the 50-pint model at best buy last week, price matched amazon at $189. This seems like a great deal for the 70-pint.

The unit works well.

Got a hisense 70 pint with built in pump for 179$ at bjs currently on sale. Can't find it advertised on line though.

Works really well so far. Been running for several days straight in the crawl space.

Did you pay with a credit card? Many credit cards extend the warranty for an additional year. I'm not sure how many people are aware of this benefit of some credit cards.

For comparison, Amazon has the FAD704DWD for $220 plus tax

Pretty nice unit, IMHO.

Note that this is an older model of OP post.

New homeowner here - do I need a dehumidifier? Should I buy a hygrometer first or just assume all basements need one? The home is in Western NY...

Bought one of these the last time there was a deal (month ago) and it's the quietest dehumidifier I've owned in the past 10 years.

I've previously bought at Lowes and got whatever they had on the shelf - most recently an LG which was super loud.

I'd recommend getting one. I'm in Wisconsin and the humidity in my basement would probably be 65-70%, which would be prime for growing mold.

I purchased a 25 pint dehumidifier 4 years ago and it did an ok job at bringing the humidity to an acceptable level (struggled on the really humid days) and had to run nonstop during the summer months.

The last time this deal came around, I purchased this unit and have been VERY happy with it. This unit doesn't struggle at all to bring the humidity down, plus I can run it on the low fan setting and it's quieter than the 25 pint unit it replaced.

It's time to replace the 10+ year old dehumidifier I have in the basement. However, the specifications of this model are confusing; please educate me. I understood that the 70 pints advertised ment that it would remove, at maximum, 70 pints of moisture with in a 24 hour period. When looking at the specifications, it lists that this unit will only remove 35 pints in a 24 hour period.
