Always stick with manual controls.
Remotes, digital displays and fragile digital buttons always go bad.

What's the function of this kind of fan? It's not a fan you'd have blowing directly on you, correct?

I use this fan to blow on me while I sleep. Knocks me out like a baby. Might buy a 2nd one for when I visit the parents. It's hard for me to sleep without it now lol.

I have a very similar model (the one that is sold at Sams' Club) and the fan is awesome, louder than other fans but also nothing compares how good the air is blown through this guy. I can't live without it in summer time.

The downside I found is that I have 2 of them and both start making weird clicking noises with the oscillation feature activated, one of them just stop moving completely.

Agree to 200%. And for almost double the price for the one with remote. The remote model is $80 in Amazon.

This can be used in full room, it can cool the room very quickly. It will be helpful in summer days. I bought one tower fan from Costco and its not blowing air after 5 feet. I returned that yesterday. So I made some search on a better fan for me and found this as one of the best. This fan can be used even in out door, near pool etc. Its easy to carry and no installation required. You have to figure out depending on your needs.

Does this fan have an option for vertical tilt? Looking to use it down a stairway...

So from the sounds of it, this is moderately loud? Could I be running this and watching TV at he same time without having to crank the TV?

I was reading the reviews and it looks like it is loud. I checked out the Lasko Hybrid fan (I don't know what "Hybrid" means) but it looks like it is between the HV and a standard tower. One review there said the HV sounds like a leaf blower but that could be an overstatement. Everyone's perception is different.

I guess there are some exceptions... I have two of these digital Lasko heaters [amazon.com]... one over fiver years old and I have not had any issues with the heater or remote on either unit. That's with plenty of use on the older unit.
