A few decent watches but I know this is a popular one. This model is the smaller one 37mm.

What's with the complaints? A Seiko 5 is a fantastic precision mechanical device - yes, it's not quartz, yes it will gain or lose a few seconds a day, but you never need a battery and it winds when you move - so as long as you're alive, you can know the time. Also a 37mm watch is nice - these days everyone is making them huger and heavier, but again, this is a classic regular sized watch - decent price, as others have noted sometimes you can do better, but if you need a watch or a good gift for a guy, here you go.

That's been my experience too. I know they are very popular but nothing beats my solar g-shock in accuracy and reliability.

Yeah, I got in on that deal too, but then nuked it trying to adjust the timing bar to improve the accuracy, it had been gaining about 20 seconds a day. D*mn those Youtube DIY videos; they make you think you're qualified to do anything. Mad

Thing is, I liked the watch so much I bought another for about $50. This one loses about 10 seconds a day. I've made my peace with the idea that a purely mechanical timepiece is never going to match even a cheap quartz battery model in terms of accuracy.

There's an elegant simplicity to these Seiko 5's that I find appealing. FYI: if you have large wrists, heed well OP's point about the 37mm case diameter. That's consistent with men's watches of 30 or 40 years ago. The typical size for a men's watch these days is 42mm and up.

I see a pic of the SNZG15 (bigger model) in this post, but don't see that on Amazon. Is there a deal on that or just the SNK809?

Nice watch but the strap is horrible... I replaced mine with a nice NATO strap from eBay.
