Free for good. But who knows if DLCs will appear later on.

for those wondering, its just the original evolve game. for those who bought the original, they get in-game bonuses and all dlc that they released were originally free

Might be worth it to try out, but honestly I've heard nothing but toxic reviews for this game as far as leveling up, game play, balance issues, etc.

Do people still have fun playing this game?

This and the multilayer of doom were two of the worst games I have taken time to try (of course the doom single player demo was quite enjoyable, bumping doom to the future buy / rent list)

Decided to try it again, interesting concept for a fun team-based or solo game.
Insane 500% player gains with this relaunch. From 200ish, jumped to 24,000+ players. Steam Players Chart [steamcharts.com]

I tried the game during their early phase, and I think they've made a LOT of major improvements to the game. Changelog : here [turtlerockstudios.com]
Comunity FAQ for the relaunch : FAQ [turtlerockstudios.com]
Founder Benefits: here [turtlerockstudios.com]

I also found retailers that still sells/trade steam-gifts for the previous 'base' game to give you founder status: here [g2a.comm] .
I activated it with steam and it still works, I have the 19+ hunters & monsters unlocked, skins, badges and some extra silver keys. Not sure if they're going to put any cut-off time for this.

If you have bought any other DLCs, you will have the contents related to that DLC unlocked too.
Pretty happy with the relaunch and founder status benefits. Game is fun and pretty fast matchmaking so far.

This game had good hype, until they started DLC-ing EVERYTHING. New monsters were like $15, and new maps and skins were expensive too. I guess to justify the game's crap DLC prices, they released the game as F2P.

I expect this to be a trend for these types of games, it's already happening in MMOs, and MOBAs. Free to play, but pay for other stuff. It keeps a steady stream of income for them.

Yeah, I've heard this game referred to as a "DLC shitstorm" ... I feel really bad for those that shelled out $100+ for the "Monster Race Edition" or whatever the hell it was called.

Try playing the free game in Windows called 'calculator'.... (your % calculation is way way off)

I think we need to revive this thread. I have been playing since the game went free, and it is a ton of fun. This was a AAA tittle selling for $40-$60 recently.

At first I thought the monsters were OP but then I realized the hunters need to just get good.

On Steam Charts Evovle Stage 2 is now the 13 top game by current number of active players, just 1 spot behind Rocket League. http://steamcharts.com/top

I did some reading and it looks like the developer turtle rock knows they messed up with the original game, and from the looks of it they have definitely made the game more fun by forcing more encounters with the monster throughout the game. Each match is on average 10 mins long, so fun to play in small doses as well.

Only negative, I think it takes up 26GBs of space. But hey, its free, and beautiful game, go give it a try if you can.
