I had a problem with my Washburn (not this current model on sale): Bad wiring from the pickup to the pots. First place I took it to thought it was the switch that was the issue (I thought the same), and after spending an hour working on it, they told me to return it.

Second place was a local Guitar Center. The tech there knew more about guitars than the 70 year old guy that helped me at the local mom-and-pop-type Washburn reseller. He took three weeks, but found the issue and fixed it.

It only cost me my time and gas. I can recommend Washburn sbased on their warranty - great coverage for locations, labor, and parts. They sent some authentic parts to the Guitar Center so they wouldn't have to use random spare parts. Washburn can make a nice body, but the electronics were hell in that one I had. It's a dream to play now.

Got mine from World Music Supply. Nice people. They will go ahead and unpack, inspect, and set up your guitar before they ship it to you if you ask them, but they missed the wiring issue on mine. They offered a free return and full refund, but I loved the look of my guitar so I just drove it around for free warrantied repairs.

One thing to note: If you get a special limited run or custom Washburns, some models do NOT have the serial numbers located anywhere on the outside of the guitar (electric). Register it, keep your receipt, and cut out the serial number from the cardboard box before you toss it. I can't remember if the serial was in any of the cavities, but I assume it is. The two repair locations just needed the cardboard cut out and a copy of my receipt to file a proper claim with Washburn.

Tks for taking the time to share the info. I like my Washburn nylon and I am looking for a smaller concert size steel string. WD25S is a good value but too big for me.

I have a Washburn that is over 30 years old and would never part with it.. I am planning on getting another one with a pickup.

It is certainly amazing what $200 can buy these days.

Looks like the price is good. Question: would anyone actually pay $400 for this? I wouldn't.
